What is UV curing?
Visit:3051 Date:2020-08-11
UV curing: here "UV" is the English abbreviation for ultraviolet light. Curing refers to the process of converting a substance from a low molecule to a polymer. UV curing generally refers to the curing conditions or requirements of coatings (paints), adhesives (glue) or other potting sealants that need to be cured with ultraviolet rays, which is different from heating curing, bonding agent (curing agent) curing, natural curing, etc. .

UV curing is a technique for obtaining a coating film that can also be crosslinked through the rapid polymerization of a monomer/oligomer mixture. This rapid polymerization of the UV system is achieved with photoinitiators and high-performance lamps. The resin system used in UV curing technology (Table 1) involves a basic oligomer, which is essentially a low molecular weight (about 2500) prepolymer. Commonly used are urethane acrylate, epoxy Acrylates, polyester acrylates or polyether acrylates, although oligomers such as vinyl ethers that do not contain acrylates, are being gradually colored. The viscosity of oligomers is relatively high. In order to facilitate construction and increase the speed of crosslinking and curing, monomers need to be added as reactive diluents to adjust the rheology of the resin. The structure of the active diluent has an important influence on the properties of the final coating film, such as fluidity, slippage, wettability, swelling, shrinkage, adhesion, and migration within the coating film. The reactive diluent can be monofunctional or multifunctional, and the latter is better because it can increase the degree of crosslinking during curing. The performance requirements for reactive diluents include, dilution capacity, solubility, odor, ability to reduce medium viscosity, volatility, functionality, surface tension, shrinkage during polymerization, and the glass transition temperature (Tg) of homopolymers. The influence and toxicity of the entire curing speed. The monomers used should have skin irritation and the value determined by Draize shall not exceed the level 3 monomer. The typical monomer used as a reactive diluent is tripropylene glycol dipropylene ether ester (TPGDA) varieties (1)
